Who's Your Favorite Jeweler?
Hello Readers!
I am Kristen Hughes. I am so excited to begin this new means of communicating with you. Let me begin by telling you a bit about Matt, myself and the birth of Your Favorite Jeweler!
I was born and raised in the Panama City area. I enjoy childcare, organization, and certain office work. I consider organization to be my best skillset. I also enjoy cooking, baking, and anything housewifey. I am a total extravert, which means I enjoy socializing and am at my happiest when I am around other people.
Matt was born and raised in Tallahassee. He moved to Panama City after High School to attend college and be closer to family that lived there. In 2008 he began his jewelry apprenticeship, and quickly discovered he had quite the knack for it. He has a keen eye for detail and enjoys sketching and creating unique pieces of jewelry. Matt is a car enthusiast and also enjoys playing music, he is especially fond of playing the guitar.
Matt and I are both extremely family oriented and we do a lot of volunteer work in our personal time. We have two pets: Makala our dog, and Mush our cat.
Matt and I met in 2010 and we married in Aug of 2011. Matt, of course, designed and made his and my rings.
We lived in PC until 2015 when we decided we were ready to open our own jewelry store. We decided on Tallahassee to be closer to family. In January of '15 Your Favorite Jeweler was born. We chose this title for obvious reasons, we aim to be your favorite jeweler! In May we opened our doors. In the future I will share a blog dedicated to the Your Favorite Jeweler storefront remodel, so you can how we took it from this. . .
. . . to this!
We focus on Custom Design and Jewelry Repair. We do everything in house. There are two things we will send out: (1) When you bring us gems that need cut, we send those to a gem cutter (2) If your watch needs work done that is beyond our skillset and needs the attention of a Watchmaker we send it to a trusted friend that we have been using for years.
We are passionate about custom design. Why? It allows us to...
make you a unique piece of jewelry
We have created many unique pieces and won't tire of that any time soon. You can see a selection of our creations on the Home page of our website as well as on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
recreate a piece of jewelry that you have lost
In our photo collections, you can also see a few pieces that were designed from our customer's memory. In one instance a customer explained to us in detail a ring that she had lost decades earlier. We were able to recreate the piece. She was overjoyed when she saw it, and that of
course gave us much satisfaction.
